AXA Global Healthcare China Launches SmartCare Essential Pro Plan

AXA Global Healthcare China has launched the SmartCare Essential Pro Plan, a new medical insurance product now available to customers in mainland China that removes out-of-pocket costs, streamlines the application process, and opens a route to cover for pre-existing conditions.
The new plan was unveiled at a launch event in Shanghai attended by more than 20 intermediary partners, and forms part of AXA Global Healthcare's broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading provider of premium healthcare for globally mobile individuals, deepening its product offering in one of the world's most significant growth markets.
The product responds to two specific demands from the Chinese market: more accessible underwriting terms for customers with pre-existing conditions, and a simpler application process for intermediaries and customers alike.
It introduces more accessible underwriting terms for pre-existing conditions: from the fourth year of continuous renewal, verified pre-existing conditions become eligible for cover. It also removes out-of-pocket costs, with no deductible for covered services within the coverage area.
The application process has been redesigned with intermediaries in mind. Customers complete a three-question medical questionnaire and receive a policy immediately upon payment, with no manual underwriting involved, replacing a longer process that previously required underwriter review before a policy could be issued.
The SmartCare Essential Pro Plan is a new standalone product that extends AXA Global Healthcare premium healthcare range in mainland China, giving intermediaries a solution for customers looking for more accessible cover for pre-existing conditions.
Fred Ding, Managing Director of AXA Global Healthcare, China, said, "AXA Global Healthcare has been deeply engaged in the Chinese market for over a decade, always focusing on the local market demands and is committed to providing customers high-quality and stable international private healthcare. The SmartCare Essential Pro Plan reflects our wider ambition to be the leading provider of premium international healthcare for globally mobile individuals, and China remains central to that."
Karim Idilby, Chief Growth Officer, AXA Global Healthcare, said, “China is a strategically important market for AXA Global Healthcare, and this launch reflects our commitment to developing products across key markets that respond to what intermediaries and their customers actually need. Removing barriers to access, whether that's underwriting terms or the application process itself, is central to how we're building our global offering."
